We have a beautiful mind that exists with a purpose, and we can command it to our advantage.

Road to mastery

Caroline Leaf, in an article, wrote, “The mind is energy, and it generates energy through thinking, feeling, and choosing. It is our aliveness, without which the physical brain and body would be useless. Your mind is how you, uniquely, experience life.”

Our mind is complex yet beautiful and intelligent, and with the power of our will, we can move through life in mastery. The Ramen Girl (never fails to make me crave a bowl of ramen every time I watch it) always comes to my mind whenever I think of mastery and legacy. It was a story of a woman looking for a new purpose and nudged (by a waving ceramic cat statue) to learn how to cook ramen, given she’s in Japan. The master chef who taught her when she finally cooked with spirit and her heart said, “You are my successor.”

I know that some people are multi-passionate, so I’m not saying you can only be an expert of one; when we dedicate our lives to an art form of one or multiple expressions, to a way of being, we become legends in our own right. As humans, we are responsible for being self-aware enough to pause to align our thoughts and feelings before making wise decisions that ultimately make us glad to come alive.

Where mind goes energy flows

When it is in our hands to direct the energy flow, will we always dare to focus on what uplifts and expands us?

THOUGHTS: Examine it

Do you remember the day when you realized you had a voice inside your head? I remember my speaking thoughts in my early teens, and I was fascinated, and I observed it can keep talking in my idle moments. Growing up, I didn’t bother to know more about it, I ‘thought’ (pun intended) it’s a natural occurrence for adults, and it’s my way of processing information within me. I only stopped to learn more about it when I observed that they were viciously repetitive, keeping me in a loop, and I want to be liberated from it.

The best remedy that calmed my mind is adding meditation to my daily routine. In those no more than 20 minutes of sitting quietly, my mind still wanders, but I’ve learned to be gentle with myself and that I will let it pass through without judgment and bring my attention back to my breathing. Meditation can also be in the form of walking or in a flow of creating something that lights up your spirit or in the habit of noticing what you appreciate in life.

Our thoughts are not us. Just like our hands that can have a muscle spasm are not us. It’s part of our humanness, but it will never define our depth, our essence.

FEELINGS: Honor it

Jill Bolte Taylor said in her Whole Brain Living book (I highly recommend), “From a purely biological perspective, we humans are feeling creatures who think.”

Our feelings are valid, but we don’t need to act irrationally on them. Instead, we honor by giving it a safe space to rise up, be seen, heard, loved, and only then can it flow through and go, and we become more resilient and compassionate human beings.

CHOOSINGS: Consciously discern

Our deliberate desires lead us to the life that matters to us. We have to determine if the way we choose is coming out of fear, an unquestioned pattern, or is it truly the desire that responds to our truth leading to who we are becoming.

Soul Renovation Instagram post read, “If you’re not changing it, you’re choosing it.” Are we choosing in every moment to move forward? Will we give ourselves a breather to tune in to our deepest calling?

When mind and spirit are in harmony

Who created us? Are we just a pigment of this world in a single lifetime? We’ve used the term “I’ll be with you in spirit” when we can’t attend a gathering physically with our human body. So, what’s the spirit? For me, the spirit is a consciousness that transcends forms and is interlinked with the infinite intelligence and the Source of all life.

To say that the mind and spirit are in harmony, we connect our humanness to the universal law rooted in unconditional love, loving what is, and expressing love through our chosen life that brings joy, ease, and peace.

Mindset shift

If the mind has three parts, thoughts, feelings, and choosings, may we find the drive to nurture our wellbeing to have a healthy consciousness to act that aligns with our meaningful life. We are all unique, and we have to celebrate that and navigate with the willingness to grow and transform.
